Today .... *Harvest Moon* in Japan.....

The harvest moon is one of the most beautiful of the year. It is customary to watch the moon....say "Otsukimi" or "Chushu-no-meigetsu" in Japanese.
In the night of the 15th of Septembert is revel as having the most beautiful night sky of the whole year. (The date is different every year because it is based on the lunar calendar). This custom crossed to Japan from China.

Japanese people in the old days thought that a giant rabbit live in the moon, beating soft rice cake "o-mochi" "o-dango".

         

On both the 15th of September and the 13th of October,

we offer seven kinds of autumn weeds, Eupatorium, Ominaeshi, Ivy, Bush clover, Chinese bellflower, Pink and Arista.
Japanese people in the old days...pray for the productiveness of grain....

I read "Girls of Riyadh". I think that this book is interesting!


In this book 4 girls from the same social class...These wealthy girls lived the conservative society of Islamic Riyadh. They hope both success and love.


I thought they were willing to fight for love in a society of Saudi Arabia's order and tradition. They are women growing up. And they are searching for a balance between career, family, love and marriage.


Should be a must read!

I heard....
that the Arabian Peninsula is one of the last places in the world where falconry remains an important sporting activity.
The nomads used their tame falcons to help procure the food for survival.
Later, falconry developed into a sport.

水タバコ屋さん。

水タバコは、エジプトやハリージでは、「シーシャ」と呼ばれています。同じ湾岸でも、イエメンでは「マダーア」って言っているのをききました。

シリアやレバノンに行くと、トルコ語から入ったのでしょうか？「アルギーレ」というみたいです。トルコでは「ナルギレ」ですもんね。
イランに行くと「ガリヤーン」。ペルシャ語なのかな？

西欧の人はhubbly bubblyとか言ったりもしますよね。これはバブルからきたのかな？？

日本では、どの呼び方が一番ポピュラーなのでしょうか？水タバコ？それともシーシャ？
